WELCOMEEEEEEEEEE EVERYONE! The biggest SummerSlam in WWE’s history is among us! On Sunday, SummerSlam will take place at the Barclays center in New York city. SummerSlam, one of the grand four PPVS (Royal Rumble, Survivor Series & Wrestlemania are the other three), is going to be four hours long this year. The card is heavily stacked to put on a great show. If you never watched WWE, SummerSlam might be a great place to start to become a fan. There is ESPN coverage the day of with Jonathan Coachman so you can catch up on everything that is going on. I feel landscape of WWE is going to change after SummerSlam. It is time to make some predictions! Let’s get right to the card!
Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
The Battleground rematch nobody asked for! These two just don’t like each other and scores need to be settled right? Orton versus Sheamus number two! Just like Battleground, this or the Dolph vs Rusev match could be the opener for the show. There are no stakes on the line which is a little disappointing. I mean we all can’t get what we want, but I think it is best that the briefcase isn’t up for grabs. Let’s be honest, if it was we would be complaining about Orton getting another title run. The Internet Wrestling Community or IWC for short would be up in arms about it. I think we are in for another impressive match like their Battleground match. This time around I feel like the decisions will be reversed. Sheamus will be victorious over Orton with a Brogue kick outta nowhere. He is Mr. Money in the bank after all. Don’t you want the winner of such a game changing match to look strong instead of eating another RKO? ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?!?!
Fatal Four Way for the Tag Team Championships: The Prime Time Players (c) vs. The Lucha Dragons vs. The New Day vs. Los Matadores
Can we say clustermuck! By the way, has anyone seen Rip and Shred? I mean the Ascension. I wonder why they weren’t in this match. They lose as much as the Los Matadores. Anyways, this match is a template switch of the fatal four way tag team match at WrestleMania 31. I would rather the New Day versus Prime Time Players one last time instead of this four way. I think the match will be decent, yet chaotic. The Lucha Dragons are the dark horse of this match. The dragons can come away with a shocking victory on Sunday. Los Matadores are interchangeable with the Ascension. They’ll just lose. It would be hilarious to see the outrage from the IWC if Los Matadores somehow won the championships on Sunday. The New Day had a questionable gimmick at first when they were baby faces (I said a lot about that in a previous article a long time ago), but now they are the most entertaining tag team in the division. It is nuts why they don’t have the tag team championships on them. It befuddles me. PTP is cool and all, but NEW DAY ROCKS. The Prime Time Players have been great champions for this lackluster division so I don’t think the belts are going to change hands. I want New Day to win and continue to be the best thing going in WWE’s tag team division. PTP will come away with the win and retain.
Winners and still tag team champions: The Prime Time Players
Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens
Two words: Show stealer. This match has all the potential in the world to be the match of the night. This match can catapult one of these men into main event status. It is going to be that good trust me. These two can outperform just about anybody you put them up against so imagine what will happen when they try to outdo each other. I’m conflicted on who will win this match. I was hoping that we could have saw Kevin Owens Vs Cesaro Vs Rusev Vs John Cena for the United States Championship in a fatal four way, but that got canned. Kevin Owens has been on a losing streak ever since he started his feud with John Cena (one win over Cena following several losses). Owens has lost to Balor at Beast in the East and he may possibly lose on Saturday again to Balor. It is a must when for Owens. Owens isn’t just a lucky guy from NXT. He has to win to reminder everyone why Owens is one of the most dangerous men in WWE. Cesaro has been on the rise since Tyson Kidd unfortunately got injured. Amazing matches with John Cena back to back on Raw proved that. The Cesaro Section is real. It’s been real since WrestleMania 30, but thank you for catching on now WWE Universe. Everyone knows how great Cesaro is, but he has never had the opportunity to show us why he is. Cesaro is the second guy to beat Rusev clean which is a big deal because the Bulgarian brute does not lose often. Defeating Kevin Owens would be a huge plus to his rising stock and shoot him to superstardom. We are in for a hell of a match on Sunday. I believe Owens will be the one to walk out with the victory. WIN OWENS WIN.
Winner: Kevin Owens.
Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose
“Anyone, but you”. Three words that launched this feud. Ever since Money In The Bank, the Wyatt Family has sabotaged every attempt of success for Roman Reigns. Dean Ambrose came to his aid and has been feuding with the Wyatts since Battleground. Welcome to the Family vs Family match. You know what I think of when I hear that? Heel turn. I have heard the words brother and family a lot. Usually when a babyface is using those words in WWE programing it subconsciously means heel turn. Look at what happened to the shield before the infamous moment when Seth Rollins turned his back on his “family” and “brothers”. The same is probably going to happen at during or at the end of this match. The question is: Who is going to make the turn. I would hope it is Roman Reigns because he is already disliked by some parts IWC and WWE Universe. I feel like he would be a natural heel also Roman could find a character that would make him stand out like his cousin, The Rock. You can believe that. Ambrose has proven during his Shield tenure he was a great heel. It would be easier for Ambrose to be the one to turn, but why? Honestly, it would be more shocking if Roman did it. The Wyatt Family & Shield feud continues, but this time it officially come to an end when the Wyatt family succeeds at SummerSlam and one brother becomes fed up with his so called family.
Winners: The Wyatt Family.
Dolph Ziggler w/ Lana vs. Rusev w/ Summer Rae
Love makes you do stupid things correct? Love also ruins dominant characters and turns them into emotional misogynistic creeps. This is what happened to Rusev. He went from a dominating monster heel, former US Champion to a stalker and lovesick fool. Again we could have had the fatal four way for the US title, but no…we got this instead. A storyline that’s more about Lana and Summer Rae instead of Ziggler & Rusev. A Ziggler stole your girl because you were a jerk storyline. Seriously, why is this not a mixed tag match? What? Would another tag team match on this card put Teddy Long in a happy coma? I just don’t get it. Ziggler was gone the majority of the feud and now he’s back after a “throat injury” * cough* movie wrapped up *cough*. I’m not expecting this match to be show stealing because I just am not invested in it. Will it be good to Ziggler’s standards? Of Course! It is just not about Ziggler & Rusev. The dueling boyfriends match will hopefully come to an end. Lana will distract Rusev leading to Ziggler hitting the Zig Zag for the win.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler w/ Lana.
Stephen Amell and Neville vs. King Barrett and Stardust
“YOU HAVE FAILED THIS CITY!” “The Prince of Dark Matter” Stardust said this back in July to R-Truth. These five words are the Green Arrow’s catchphrase. The Green Arrow is portrayed by Stephen Amell. When he caught word of Stardust imitating his phrase, this began a twitter feud. It seemed harmless at the time, but once Stardust started feuding with “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville or his hero, this twitter feud seemed like it could evolve into a potential match. The build up to this match was unlike anything else going on in WWE. IT MIRRORED CHAPTERS FROM A COMICS RECAPPING EVERYTHING THAT WENT ON EACH WEEK. It was awesome to say the least. Once Amell was a guest on Raw, tensions were bound to explode and they did. This match was made, A cosmic king was introduced, and I’m excited. I usually sour whenever a celebrity gets involved in a match, but I believe this idea is genius. Amell does his own stunts, I’m sure he has been training for this match. The downside could be how he is used in the match. I would hate to see him just get the pin like most celebrities. I want to see some action from this celebrity. This can be great or a bust. I see the Red Arrow and Green Arrow prevailing for justice because somebody has to be our hero.
Winner: Stephen Amell & Neville.
Elimination Tag Team Match: Team Bella vs. Team B.A.D. vs. PCB
A score to settle all scores. Who is the better team! That’s basically this match. By the way, if one person on one team gets pinned the entire team is eliminated which defeats the elimination tag purpose. The show is four hours we can’t get an actual elimination tag match with these ladies. I understand it may run long or it could be chaotic. I get it though. I would have love to see someone being the last women standing instead of the last team standing. It really bothers me that this revolution is more about the teams instead of the championship. I could go on and on about how Nikki Bella is a horrible champion while improving as a wrestler, but that’s not what this match is about. It is about who is the better team. I have my money on Team B.A.D. because “The Boss” is the best thing going in women’s wrestling. She is the absolute best and my second favorite wrestler on the planet next to the first Shinsuke Nakamura. YEAOH!
Winners: Team B.A.D.
Intercontinental Championship: Ryback (c) vs. The Miz vs. Big Show
Staph infections are no joke. Therefore I’m going to keep this very short. The feud started with just Big Show and Ryback. The big guy vs the big show. Then The Miz was inserted in. The big guy vs the big show vs the movie star. This was going to happen at Battleground until the champ, Ryback, woke up with a staph infection in his knee. That sucked. Ryback recovered and now we are getting this long overdue match at SummerSlam. It is about time this feud comes to an end. The Ryback recovers and retains his title at SummerSlam.
Winner and still champion: The Ryback.
Title For Title: John Cena (United States Champion) vs. Seth Rollins (WWE World Heavyweight Champion)
At first, I did not want this to happen, but as the story progressed I was intrigued. I didn’t like the idea of title for title when we could have had a US title match on SummerSlam, but it is fine. Seth Broke Cena’s nose in there first encounter on RAW. Cena won the match, but Seth won the bragging rights. Cena vows to make Rollins his bitch on Sunday. What can you expect from this match? Believe it or not…greatness. I feel like Rollins and Cena may put on a match that may steal the show. I know I’ve said two other matches, but this one is up there with Owens Vs Cesaro & The Wyatts Vs Reigns & Ambrose. Will Cena become a sixteen time champion after his fifteen time champion shirt just came out? I doubt it. Will a win over Cena make Rollins look like the champ we all know he is capable of being? More than likely. If Rollins or Cena wins the match, the victory may be short lived because a Brogue Kick could be waiting around the corner. I’m going with Mr. Never Shuts Up defeating John Cena becoming the United States and WWE World Heavyweight champion. I know one thing is for sure that win is not going to be a clean one.
Winner, New United States Champion, and still WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Seth Rollins
Grudge Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker
The grand event of the show. The rematch too big for WrestleMania. The hardest match to call on the card. The odd reigniting feud of Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker. I was honestly upset when Taker returned to attack Lesnar at Battleground. I was surprised I was rooting against my favorite wrestler of all time. Taker finally strikes now after getting tired of Heyman gloating about Brock ending the streak. “You took my streak away, so I’ll take your chance at becoming champion away” Perfect heel timing when you look at it that way. Taker seeks redemption while Lesnar seeks revenge. I’m more confused why Taker entertained Bray Wyatt for a lackluster match at Wrestlemania, but that’s another topic for another day. I really don’t know what to expect from this match besides a beating. It is going to be a brawl. I don’t want to see Taker get dominated or vice versa. I only see three ways this match can end.
1. Taker is about to lose. Brock goes for final F-5 to put the Deadman away for good when Kane’s pyro hits (or the lights go out like they did when he debuted) distracting Lesnar allowing to Taker to hit a tombstone piledriver for the victory.
2. Taker wins the match with a Tombstone, does his signature kneeling pose, but when the lights are supposed to go purple they go out completely. We hear a crow. The lights come back on and Sting with bat in hand is in the ring with The Undertaker. This sets up a huge match a Survivor Series where both men made there WWE debuts.
3. 1 and 2 happen.
I don’t see Lesnar winning this match clean. I see Taker going full heel and taking advantage of the interference to get a victory over BROOOOOOOOCKKKK LESNNNNARRR.
Winner: The Undertaker.
This wraps up SummerSlam 2015! I am excited for tomorrow! So many great matches, twists and turns. I really hope this show delivers on all the hype. SummerSlam can fall on its face with a couple underwhelming matches and undesired turns. I doubt it. This is SummerSlam after all. Fun times await us on Sunday. Till Next time!
