HAPPY ANNIVERSARY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!
I know this is a bit impromptu, but yeah here goes nothing.
IF you didn’t know, I’m celebrating my blog anniversary today!!!! OK I am aware it was 2 days ago. I know I started on the 7th of this month, but I was busy ok? Before you make the joke, I’ll make it for you. Yes this black man was late to his own anniversary perpetrating the stereotype some more. Tsk tsk tsk. I was busy ok?! I didn’t forget! Now for the first anniversary I am going to keep my sentiments short and sweet. The next one will be a bit bigger…I hope so.
One year ago, I started this blog after saying I would do a blog for years. Seriously I was saying “I’ll do a blog” since 2007 and I’m a bit salty that I missed that opportunity. I could have been big damn it. I could have been a star. Screw that, I am a star….in my own head. It was either time to nut up or shut up because quite frankly I was tired of hearing myself say I was going to do something and not. Also, being a little scared that people online will rip apart your work without positive criticism would make any fan of writing second guess doing this. The point is I started.
I took a chance on something I believed in and guess what? I loved it. It has been so much fun to have this blog. To throw ideas against the wall, to constantly challenge your own writing, to feel like you need to be entertaining to your audience. It has changed my life for the better. My creativity is always flowing. I want to make this site bigger and better each time I make a post. This all comes with baby steps. You must crawl before you walk said that guy everyone quotes in motivational videos of why you should go to the gym and have a fit and tone body or why you should have a successful business or why you should go and talk to that girl or guy you have a crush on OR why you should just say screw it and eat oreos, watch netflix and be merry with yourself.
I still don’t know who said the common sense deal of crawling before walking, but I’m telling you to enjoy life. I’m telling you to get those oreos, a nice plastic cup or a glass of milk, put on a movie by yourself or with your significant other and be merry. You can quote me on that. I’m telling you, reader, to go for it! It may not be what you thought it was going to be in your mind, but the point is you have to try. AT LEAST TRY! A billion people won’t come read your blog or watch your twitch/youtube channel or listen to your music or buy whatever you are selling, but at least you are trying. You are doing something you love which is important. YOU ARE DOING IT! You are trying. You don’t want to do anything that will leave you miserable. Just keep doing what you love for leisure or the quest for fame. Trust me if I could write for this blog to make a living, I would in a heartbeat. For me, this is therapy. This is leisure. This is love and I will continue to do it. Hey this could become my income one day! Who knows!
As for what is coming down the pipeline, I have a bunch of ideas that I want to work on. I have a list and updates! You like lists and updates right? lol. I’m gonna tell you about it.
First, I am going to update the domain name of the website. I know I said it before in a previous update, but I am really going to do it soon. It took so long because I was considering moving everything to squarespace. I’m still doing research, but it is happening. So be on the lookout because the site could change anytime soon.
Second, I want to change the look of the site. I saw that cost money…and sometimes you gotta spend money to make things look the way you want it to. I like the look now, but I want the site to reflect me a little more.
Third, The collab stories are still happening. I have been talking to more people about collaborating on a short story and got some responses. The inhibitor of these happening is time and life. I have some personal things to take care of before I can set up dates to write with people. The timing just has to be right. Also the story a month thing is going to continue for the rest of this year. I don’t know about next year, but we will see.
Finally, I am going to tease surprises to come down the line. I don’t know what they will be, but I know they are going to be great! I will be surprised too!
Most importantly, I want to thank all of you who are following! All forty-nine of you! It is fifty including myself! Truly, thank you I appreciate the love and support! Yall don’t comment a lot, but that’s cool! You are here and that’s all that matters. I want to thank all of the readers who have stopped by and read a story or poem or something! I appreciate you just coming through to read for a second. I want to thank everyone who’s blogging! I salute you for doing something you love! I can promise there will be more stories, poems, reviews and future surprises coming down the line! Thank you for rocking with me. Let’s continue to rock with each other for many years!!
